Gears & Axles for Trucks, Jeeps & 4x4s in Ellensburg

Re-gearing, differential service and axle upgrades for trucks, Jeeps and 4x4s of every make, done in-house.

Bigger tires change more than ground clearance. They can change how your truck, Jeep or other 4x4 accelerates, climbs, cruises and handles a load. If your project needs gears, stronger axle components or a different traction setup, start with the whole vehicle. Crossroad Garage in Ellensburg builds and repairs off-road vehicles and handles gears and axles for trucks, Jeeps and other 4x4s. We are an Auto & Diesel Performance & Repair shop. Bring us your goals so we can discuss the drivetrain work your project may need and confirm the installation scope before you order.

Match the drivetrain to the job

A useful gear-ratio recommendation needs more than a tire size. Engine output, transmission, existing axle ratio, axle type and intended use all matter. A daily-driven truck or Jeep that sees weekend trails may need a different approach from a trail-focused off-road vehicle. Tell us what changed after the tires went on, what you want the vehicle to do better, and what parts are already installed.

Traction choices need the same care. A locker, limited-slip differential and open differential behave differently. The right option depends on where you drive and which compromises you can live with on the road. Stronger axle shafts do not make every other component indestructible. We would rather discuss the combination than sell one part as a cure for the entire drivetrain.

Gears, axles and 4x4 project discussions

  • Regear planning around tire size, existing ratios and intended use.
  • Ring-and-pinion and differential-component selection.
  • Locker and limited-slip options for the application.
  • Axle-shaft and related driveline-component planning.
  • Inspection requests for drivetrain noise, wear or concerns after modifications.
  • Supporting suspension and tire-fitment considerations.
  • Confirmation of axle-specific installation scope and parts before booking.

Good setup matters as much as good parts

Gear work is not just putting new parts in a housing. Bearing condition, preload, backlash and tooth-contact pattern are part of a proper setup. The housing and existing components also affect the job. A ratio change may involve related parts, so identifying the axle and current differential before ordering helps avoid buying an incomplete combination.

On a four-wheel-drive vehicle, front and rear axle ratios must be compatible. Some axle and ratio combinations also require a different carrier or other supporting components. We need the actual vehicle details to work through those questions. If you are unsure which axles are under your rig, say so rather than guessing from the badge or a previous owner's description.

Browse parts, then confirm the application

Our catalog includes Yukon Gear and Revolution Gear & Axle. Explore gas-vehicle axle and driveline parts for relevant options, and our suspension category for related build needs. Catalog coverage varies by vehicle. Contact the service team to confirm fitment and whether we can take on your exact axle project before buying parts or arranging a trip.

Performance projects and everyday repairs

Gears and axles are one part of the whole vehicle. We also build diesel engines and transmissions in-house, and handle off-road suspension work. Brakes, tires and general maintenance are everyday shop services. Bring up existing noise, wear or handling concerns before planning larger modifications.

Based in Ellensburg, welcoming Central Washington builds

Our shop is at 1607 W. Dolarway Rd, Building 1, Ellensburg, WA 98926. We welcome inquiries from Ellensburg, Kittitas County, Yakima, Wenatchee and across Central Washington. Call ahead to discuss the vehicle and scheduling. There is one Ellensburg shop; these areas describe where customers can come from, not additional shop locations or a mobile installation service.

Truck, Jeep and 4x4 gears and axle FAQs

Which ratio should I run with larger tires?

Send your tire size, engine, transmission and current ratio. We also need to understand road use, trail plans and any towing. There is no single best ratio for every vehicle with the same tires.

Do I need lockers in both axles?

Not necessarily. Traction needs, axle strength, budget and road manners all affect that choice. Discuss your intended use before choosing a front-and-rear combination.

Can you quote it from a parts list?

A parts list helps, but the axle application and vehicle condition still need reviewing. We must confirm the work we can accept, the required parts and the project scope before scheduling.

Who should I contact?

Call 509-306-9577 or email service@crossroadgaragellc.com. Include the vehicle, axle information, current and planned tires, existing modifications and your goal. You can also request service through Contact Us.
