ARP 247-4202 Pro Series head stud kit for the 24-valve 5.9L and 6.7L Cummins in 1998.5-2024 Dodge/Ram trucks. ARP cylinder head studs are rated at 220,000 psi tensile strength and provide the clamping force needed to keep the cylinder heads from lifting under higher combustion pressures, the best insurance against head gasket failure on a tuned or hard-working diesel. The studs are made from ARP’s proprietary ARP2000 material, heat-treated before the threads are rolled for optimum fatigue strength, and centerless ground for perfect concentricity.

Unlike torque-to-yield factory head bolts, studs are installed hand tight and the nut does the clamping, so the load is pure tension with no twisting. That gives a more even, repeatable clamp load, and the studs are reusable.

Installation Notes

• Chase the block threads with ARP thread chaser 912-0008 (M12 x 1.75)
• Install studs hand tight only; the hex broach is for installing/removing, not for torque
• The 6.625in long studs go on the exhaust side in positions 3, 6, 11, 14, 19 and 22 of the torque sequence
• The lower rocker arm cover must be machined at the No. 24 bolt hole for stud, nut and washer clearance
