ARP 230-4203 head stud kit for the GM 2.8L Duramax LWN 4-cylinder turbo diesel in the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon. ARP cylinder head studs are rated at 220,000 psi tensile strength and provide the clamping force needed to keep the cylinder heads from lifting under higher combustion pressures, the best insurance against head gasket failure on a tuned or hard-working diesel. The studs are made from ARP’s proprietary ARP2000 material, heat-treated before the threads are rolled for optimum fatigue strength, and centerless ground for perfect concentricity.

Unlike torque-to-yield factory head bolts, studs are installed hand tight and the nut does the clamping, so the load is pure tension with no twisting. That gives a more even, repeatable clamp load, and the studs are reusable.

Installation Notes

• Installing head studs on the 2.8L requires cylinder head removal (the head bolts sit under the camshafts)
